My First Time on the Mardi Himal Trek – A Walk to Remember

The Mardi Himal Trek was one of the best things I have ever done. I had never done a big trek before. I was nervous at first, but now I am so happy I went. The trail is quiet and calm. It is not too crowded, which made me feel relaxed. This trek is about 40 kilometers long and takes 5 to 7 days to finish . The highest point is 4,500 meters, but the walk starts from about 1,070 meters. So, the height goes up slowly, which helped me adjust.

I started the trek from a small town called Kande. The trail passed through green trees, small homes, and pretty paths. On the way, I saw many colors. Trees with bright rhododendron flowers, birds flying around, and smiling people. Every stop felt like a new story. I met locals who served warm tea and simple food. The best part? The view of Mt. Machapuchare. It is also called the “Fishtail” mountain. It looked so close and sharp, like I could almost touch it.

At night, I stayed in small tea houses. The rooms were clean and warm. The people were kind. We ate dal bhat (rice with lentils) every day. It gave me strength to keep going. The weather was good too. I went in October, which is the best time to go. The sky was blue, and there was no rain.

One thing I really liked was the peace. Some treks are full of people, but Mardi felt quiet. I could hear the wind, birds, and even my own steps. I did not feel rushed. I took my time, breathed the clean air, and looked around. I felt free. I saw the sunrise from the Mardi Himal View Point. It was cold, but so beautiful. The sun hit the white snow, and the mountains turned gold.

This trek is also cheaper than other famous treks. The permit cost me about $30, and the rooms and food were simple and not costly. I spent around $25 per day. I met a few people on the way, and they felt the same. It was their first trek too. We laughed, walked, and helped each other.

I now tell everyone to try the Mardi Himal Trek if they want a short, easy, and beautiful walk in Nepal. It is safe, quiet, and full of views that take your breath away. You don’t need to be super fit. Just take it slow and enjoy every step.
